Cool weather - where fore art thou cool weather?

Greetings and salutations family!

I am multi tasking right now.

I just finished jotting down a few thoughts about mom to celebrate her 65th birthday while giving a few parched spots on the lawn a much needed drink. The weather is toying with my emotions right now and dangling the proverbial 'precipitation carrot' in front of my face. I see the clouds, I hear the wind but I feel no rain. :(

I'm a bit tired of the triple digit weather we have been having and want to punch the weather dudes in the face when they say in the nightly news that more triples are in our future. Kind of makes me wonder why I moved down to this desert. Oh yes now I remember - family. I moved down for family. And they are worth every dry desert drop.

Speaking of family I want to introduce everyone to the newest member of our family - Eric Scott Roberts. By now you all should have received pictures of this precious arrival. If you haven't seen the pictures please let me know and I'll send them post haste. This picture was taking when little baby E was just 15 hours old.

I now must go turn off the water, change clothes and go watch BYU play football. Must support my cougars of course. Jake and I were singing the fight song to baby Eric the other day. So far Eric hasn't caught the cougar spirit, but with Matt and Julie as his parents I have no doubt that it will come. If you plant and nourish it - it will grow. :)

In the Good Ole Summer Time

I also enjoyed our family reunion. I look forward to hearing about possibilities for next year. School starts back up in a couple weeks so I better read a little faster in order to finish my book.

Family - It is SOOOO worth the time...

Hi family of mine -
I wanted to jot down a few of my favorite parts of this past reunion - while they are still clear in my head.

I loved that we were all together in one place and didn't have to really 'rush' around to do anything or go off property for entertainment. For the most part our entertainment was each other and let's face it, we are pretty entertaining. :)

I also loved how we each took a night to cook and then had FHE each night. It was nice to all sit around and talk. Thank you for sharing your thoughts and feelings about the past year.

I loved watching the grandkids run around in the grass area and playing volleyball and 500 in the pool.

I'd do something like this again - stay at a resort type location with on premises entertainment. And if there is a yummy chuckwagon style food place with delicious steak and pie then all the better. yum yum

Family Reunion 2008

I start back to work August 5th 2008. Our reunion should be before that please. Perhaps the last week in July? Thoughts?

and there was much rejoicing in the land

I'm so happy the blog is being used again. We all need to take advantage of this modern electronic marvel more often. Some of us see each other frequently but it is still nice to blog now and then.

School has another week to go with me - ugh - my kids are ready to be done and I'm ready for them to be done but we all have to hang in there until the 6th.

The job search continues but nothing much has happened that is fit to print. However keep your fingers crossed that I can find something closer to home, and that my car survives another year.

Checking into the Blog

Hey Y'all. Here is the Smith family checking into the fabulous blog. Sorry I have not looked for a little while. So let's see. . .oh I know, the big news is that we have dumpsters out near our house for all the students moving in or out at the end of the semester. So Brian has junked some of the old wood and other junk he had in our little back patio. I am very excited. He is making room for his 2 engines that are coming in sometime this week--some kind of diesel engine or something he can make a generator out of and do his experiments etc. But I say hey, out with the crap and in with the new "treasures." ha ha. ok. I know this is probably too much excitement for the blog but that is my life so much excitement. Looking forward to July. yee haw!!

Back in the Saddle again

Well, I am on board for next year. I will start looking for tickets around October since that seems to be the cheapest time. I'm looking forward to the end of the school year. The kids are ready to be gone and I am ready for them to be gone so it is a good deal. Not much else to say. Guess that is why I don't post.

can you hear me now????

Hey everyone - did we all take a siesta with posting on the blog? Did we loose folk in the 'new blog' transfer? I was just surfing the blog and noticed that we haven't posted anything since January. I know that things have been hectic in our lives - but lets take a moment - take a deep breath and jot down a few ideas on the blog - this is the 'sharing time' part of the program.

The reunion is coming - right around the corner - lets not spend the entire time up at Bison 'catching up'. Lets catch up now.

Anyone want to talk the food situation during the reunion?

Have a great week.

just checking in

A quick post to hopefully get back on track. Sorry it's been so long since anyone has heard from us. Things have been so busy ... which I know is the case with all of you, so it's not much of an excuse, I know.

Anyway, we're enjoying a visit with my parents right now. Only it's a bummer because they were looking forward to sunny weather with temps in the 70's and they've got rain and the 50's ... oh well, we're enjoying lots of indoor time together. Incidentally, those of you living in AZ will notice the next time you drive by that the snowflakes and Christmas lights are down. According to my cute visiting teachee (lady that I visit teach), "If you put away your Christmas decorations before the Super Bowl, you're a quitter. :)" But Jacob and my dad worked on that project today. We also had the big Ikea outing today and hit In-N-Out yesterday, so all is well. We also picked a bunch of citrus fruit in my friend's yard this afternoon. It was my first experience with an orange picker. Fun times!

I'm still serving in YW, and while it's a wonderful blessing, it has become a bit challenging. I feel like things will be changing sometime soon.

Jacob is doing great. We've got big plans for him to start pre-school in the fall, and I think he'll love it. He's finally getting the hang of the potty-training thing which is great for all of us!

Oh, I wanted to weigh in on the family t-shirt thing ... on behalf of Matt, Jake, and me, we will like whatever you guys pick ... as long as there aren't a bunch of flowers and rainbows all over it (I'd be okay with it, but you might get some resistance from Matt and Jake ... not to mention the other guys in the fam.) Thanks for the efforts on this! We're looking forward to July!

Update

ok, so here's an update of what's been going down in our lives... we are loving arizona, although we will love it more when we find a place to live and dalisa gets a job. I'm going to utah on the 7th of feb. to move the rest of our stuff out of the townhome and prepare it for the renters. I'm enjoying my job at the marriott resort, although the hotel is going through a 40 million dollar repositioning project starting May 1st, so I may not have a job there come that time. I will learn more this week about what will happen to my job. that's what's happening with us right now, we are thankful for all of the support we are receiving from all of you!

Roberts t-shirt ideas

So how does everyone feel about this idea? Do you like Roberts on top or on the bottom? Should our cowboys rope the clock or stay as is.

Inquiring minds want to know.

I'm getting excited about this reunion. Are you?

It is going to be GREAT.

Wild Wild West

So, I have found a local gal (someone I work with) to do the family t-shirts for our reunion this July. I am thinking of a silk screen family logo. Please contribute ideas for the logo. We could do something simple or go a little more daring. Just please send some ideas this way or I will be forced to choose for you. Although, I am sure that I would do a wonderful job. However, I would rather save my unilateral decision making abilities for my calling. Thanks.

extensions

So Kim -
Julie showed me a picture of your extensions. You look great.

I'm semi curious about the whole extension thing - can you share a little info about the process. Like where they stick the hair, what happens when your own hair grows, how long does it take to do, would you recommend it to your friends and family and is it pricey?

Thanks!

Game Night

So I was thinking we could have game night Saturday the 3rd of February at our house. We can even have dinner if y'all would like. Let me know what you think. :)

A little more participation please

Oh Dear Family of Mine,

THIS IS MY STERN FACE.
A brief message before I start dinner, which by the way is going to be fabulous. Not like the chicken most of you suffered through last night. Thank you for letting me experiment on you.

French onion soups, made from scratch, and roasted mushroom toast things are on tap for tonight. (I felt like mom just then giving an in depth look of what's for dinner).

Moving on, I'd like for us to post more on the blog. I know Anne is afraid that someone will steal her identity but I said after her last post no one will want to be her. Just kidding Anne. You can spill your guts to us. Plus I am sure that no one else really cares to read our family blog (just don't be sharing your social security number and where you will be Friday night). But I wish our own family would post and read it more? So what do you say? Let's participate! Thanks

Love to you all.

PS thank you for your prayers this week of behalf of Dustin and his family. I'm so thankful that we have knowledge of the plan of salvation and that death is not the end.
